Krishna district tops intermediate examinations again

VIJAYAWADA : Krishna district maintained its lead position by emerging on top in the State in the Intermediate examinations, the results of which were declared by Human  Resources Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao here on Thursday.


The district secured an impressive pass percentage of 86 per cent with 51,492 of the total 59,630 students who appeared for the second year examination, passing it.  


The district was at the top last year also by securing 84 per cent pass percentage and it maintained the lead this year too. The girls outshone the boys on pass percentage.


Of the 31,478 boys who appeared for the second year exam from the district, 27,037  passed, registering a pass percentage of 86 per cent. Of the 28,152 girls who appeared for the exam, 24,455 passed with a pass percentage of 87 per cent.


In first year examination, of the 65,947 candidates who appeared, 50,923 passed, registering a pass percentage of 77 per cent.


In the first year examination also, girls outshone boys on pass percentage. Of the 35,526 boys who appeared for the exam, 26,787 passed, registering a pass percentage of 75 per cent. And of the 30,421 girls who appeared for the exam, 24,136 passed with 79 per cent of them passing it, according to a statement released by the Regional Inspection Officer, Board of Intermediate Education, Vijayawada.


Commenting the achievement, Regional Intermediate Officer (RIO) of Board of Intermediate Education M Raja Rao said that the quality of education and huge infrastructure available in Krishna district were the major reasons for the district topping the State for the seventh consecutive year.
