Kurnool: The offer to campaign in Andhra Pradesh by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao only as a “ return gift” to settle scores with AP chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set off an animated deb-ate among political parties across the spectrum.

YSRC which had taken a bold decision to openly side with Mr Rao despite the fact that the latter had hurled abuses at former CM Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy at the Wanaparthy election meet did not go down well with Congress leaders from Rayalaseema.

Senior politician Tulasi Reddy had openly expressed dismay at the myopic opportunism pursued by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said YSRC had the temerity to oust the very founder of YSRC, setting a new low in loyalty politics.

But YSRC Kurnool Parliamentary Constitu-ency incharge B.Y. Ramayya said, “ With star campaigner Jagan on our side, we don’t need anybody’s support.” He added, “Mr  Rao might have offered to campaign for us but as far as we are concerned, our leader Jagan is colossal and we are riding the wave of his popularity in AP.”

TD district president Somisetty Venkateswar-lu said that Chandrababu Naidu campaigned in Telangana as he was the National president of the party and the TD had put up candidates.

“If  K.C.R wants to campaign here without fielding candidates, it is upto him.  But people here are discerning.  The scars of bifurcation are still not healed totally,” he added.
