AP: Fire breaks out in GENCO plant

Fire broke out likely due to short circuit and property damaged worth around Rupees 1 Crore at Sri Damodaram Sanjivayya Thermal Plant at Nelaturu in Muthukuru mandal late night on Monday. According to sources, rubber pipe of the conveyor belt at third junction caught to fire initially which spread to other nearby areas in which around Rs. 1 Cr property reduced to ashes. 


The incident took place at around 11.20 pm on Monday. Officials instantly deployed fire tenders from the plant, Krishnapatnam Port, and local fire station for dousing the flames. No one was hurt during the incident. Fire officials primarily estimated that the incident took place due to possible short circuit. 


Major mishap averted as there was no supply of coal through the conveyor belt. Sources said rubber pipes stocked close to the accident place were also caught to fire. Fire at Sri Damodaram Sanjivayya Thermal Plant in Muthukur mandal on Monday night
