Mudragada’s padayatra: Fear grips EG

Rajamahendravaram: East Godavari district is experiencing heat with the call for Chavo Revo Chalo Amaravati padayatra by Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham. With the D Day – July 26 less than a week away anxiety grips people, with government stamping its foot down.


While, Mudragada is prepared march ahead with padayatra without seeking permission, the government is adamant to allow it, citing violence and law and order reasons. Deputy chief minister and home minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa and DGP said in no uncertain terms that padayatra cannot be allowed, in the wake of arson took place during January last year at Kapu Garjana meeting at Tuni.


In the wake of these developments, Mudragada’s padayatra has turned out to be challenge for police. posing challenge to the police department. Meanwhile, people are fearing break out of violence, it government keeps Mudragada under house arrest. For the past two weeks, police on every possible occasion are advising members of Kapu community and youth to not to participate in the padayatra, as no permission will be given.Police department has turned its attention to Konaseema area, as allegedly is keeping a strict vigil on the activities of Kapu leaders Kalvakolanu Tataji, Nalla Vishnu Murthi, Akula Rama Krishna and others.


Despite, the warnings and advisories from the government, the Kapu leaders in the district are conducting  meetings and calling upon on community to make the padayatra a grand success. At the same time,Mudragada’s call to Kapu community saying that the padayatra is his last fight for reservations had considerable impact.
