Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday firmly stated that Andhra Pradesh’s new medical colleges will not be handed over to private entities, rejecting criticism of projects being developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Speaking at a conclave in Vijayawada, Naidu said the PPP framework ensures there will be no financial burden on the state while colleges remain under full government control. “We are not handing over any college to private entities. Students and healthcare services will face no injustice,” he said.
The Chief Minister promised free outpatient services, full implementation of the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme, and 50% of medical seats reserved under the general category. Drawing from his earlier education policies that enabled children of farmers and workers to become engineers, Naidu said the government is committed to protecting access to affordable medical education.
He also introduced the “Sanjeevani” project, a technology-driven plan to deliver healthcare at people’s doorsteps instead of limiting it to hospitals. “This will soon be rolled out across the state,” he announced.
On Andhra’s future growth, Naidu projected the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to reach Rs 29.29 lakh crore by 2028-29 and Rs 57.22 lakh crore between 2029-34, with per capita income expected to more than double in the same period. He stressed the need for balanced welfare, infrastructure, and “Super Six” schemes to create inclusive development.
Naidu reiterated his commitment to completing the Polavaram project by December 2027, blaming delays on past negligence. He also highlighted plans for Amaravati’s long-term development, promising land donors would be supported and likening the capital’s potential to Hyderabad’s rapid transformation.
By January 2026, he said, the state will establish Quantum Valley, a hub for quantum computing and premier educational institutions, aimed at turning the Guntur-Vijayawada-Tenali belt into a mega urban region.
Closing the event, Naidu called for collaborative planning, recalling past reforms that lifted millions out of poverty and urging policies that put society’s needs above politics.
